The main objection I hear for booking a massage is “I haven’t got the time.”
What is time? I think it’s all relative. I have 10000000 jobs on my to do list and its growing faster
than it is reducing.
A quick glimpse of my to do list – by no means its entirety.
Create more jewellery, organise my book keeping, bulk cook / meal prep nutritious whole foods
(remembering everyone’s intolerances, preferences and sticking to a tight as budget), laundry,
clean the car, daily yoga practice, daily meditation practice, 5k run 3 times a week, swim 50
lengths once a week, finish my financial improvements book, journal, learn new songs, record
new song / videos, be the best mum I can be, be a loving wife, give my husband the time and
attention he deserves, be a good friend, therapy, shave legs, wash hair, cut nails, face mask for
blackheads, business social media (must post every day – gasps) spend quality time with Indah,
go for walks in the fresh air, housework, spoil my mum, marketing, CPD training, write blog…
You get the jist…
I think, especially as a parent, we give so much to everyone else, and do it on auto pilot, we
forget to recognise, or we ignore the signs that we are running on empty.
We lose the joy of bedtime stories, we lose the love that goes into the cooking, home is no longer
the haven, its becomes to trigger to stress and anxiety because there’s so many jobs to do, your
love life diminishes because you are just so highly strung that the thought of being intimate
makes you want to curl up into a ball.
Let’s shift our thoughts for a moment.
All these jobs will always be there. They aren’t ever going to stop being important. So, taking that
60 minutes (insert appropriate time for your needs) once a week for yourself and nobody else is
not going to cause collapse of the entire system.
And believe me when I say, you will get TWICE as much done after those 60 minutes* – You will
be able to relight that fire.
We are powerful. When we feel loved, nurtured and rested we are POWERFUL beings.
Please remember – choose your 60 minutes wisely…
What is going to really invigorate you?
Think of how you would feel after a 60 minute scroll hole journey on social media or a 60 minute
binge on TV with a pack of biscuits compared to how you’d feel after a 60 minute walk out in the
fresh air, or a 60 minute warm bath and self-care, a 60 minute massage or 60 minutes with your
head in your favourite book.
One thing that keeps me going is my regular massage. It helps me keep my moral up, keeps me
feeling positive and helps my body to relax and to feel strong enough to provide my clients and
my family with what they need.
It is NOT a luxury, It is a necessity!
